Too many a missed opportunity

I'm the science type of person, if you want to know. I'm not so much of the literature type. Classics don't really catch my attention. I'm not really into reading stories as much as I used to, too. I like languages, but not always good at them. Maths and physics are probably the best things that ever happened to me.

Just last night I was watching Alien Planet, and for some strange reason, shows like that keeps me interested. There was something that I found quite meaningful, and that is (paraphrased)"It is rather difficult for all the conditions for life to coincide, creating a place where life forms can exist. Life is precious. All of us should be celebrating life." and "Liquid water as exists on Earth may be the most precious thing in the entire universe. But what do we do with it? We pollute it."

For the latter, I was struck with sudden joy (Weird, huh?) to know that there should be a lot of other people who also realise this. I was also surprised to find out that lquid water is indeed very rare in the universe. Name me a planet other than Earth that has liquid water.

Stumped?

You should be. Water often exists in solid form on other planets, and it's rather rare to see a sea (water, hopefully, not other liquids). You get lava, maybe. But not liquid water. But you wonder, "argh, who's interested in this stuff anyway".

As for conditions for life, you need a whole lot of thing combined altogether. That particular planet needs to be stable in orbit, thus it needs a moon (at least), and then carbon sources, water, suitable temperatures, etc. The list goes on. Again, not many people even care, save for the scientists, the science fiction writers, and... I don't know, people like me?

So why do I care? Because it is related to life? That I always wanted to know what is life and how it comes about?

Life right now doesn't seem to be in those terms. Life now is not getting every single thing that you want, putting up with whatever you are thrown into, listening to a great deal of complaining around you, not having the time to do what you want, having too many restrictions, disagreements, and unsatisfaction.

The same life can also be appreciation for understanding the importance of things, learning the skill of adaption, patience when dealing with people and things around you, learning to manage time well to make time for things when there isn't, and not looking back on your previous regrets, mistakes, and missed opportunities, but rather, look forward into what improvements you are going to make, precautions to take, and creating new opportunities for yourself.

And then, how similar are these two lives now? They are exactly the same, yet totally different to the one who perceives them.

What does this say?

You decide.

This entry reminds me of.. the movie, artificial intelligence. Haha, anyway that movie touched me deep. Scares me as well. Makes me think about the future. It's quite old as well. If u haven't watch it, maybe u should. The ending.. i don't even know how to describe the feeling it gave me. *shrugs*
